Missions

Maritime Security involves protection of coastlines, Territorial Waters (12Nm), Economic Exclusion Zone (generally 200 Nm) and possible law enforcement in the “contiguous” zone:

  • surveillance, fight against piracy
  • control identity and movement of vessels, control activities in EEZ
  • control regulations of fishery areas
  • protect offshore platforms and tankers
  • end to end shipment control
  • prevent smuggling operations and shipping of stolen goods and weapons
  • dissuade and intercept polluters.

Solutions

Surveillance means

  • Mobile platforms equipped with radar and camera (IR spectrum or TV): planes and UAVs for long-range surveillance missions of large areas; helicopters for area surveillance, object location and identification; ships or vessels for short-range surveillance.
  • Coastal sites with radar, electro-optic and underwater sensors as well as Automatic Identification System (AIS).
  • Intelligence means: Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance System; observation satellite, real-time image analysis, sonar, risk assessment.

Command and control system

  • Situation awareness (Common Operational Picture)
  • Resource management, location and dispatching, mission planning
  • Decision support system
  • Vessel Traffic Services (VTS)
  • Communication means and data links

Intervention

Mobile platforms to track, intercept and perform interventions at sea.
