Applications
The E.S.A.O. system performs functional integration tests on all Airbus families, the A320, A330/A340 and the A380, on both the Hamburg and Toulouse assembly lines.
E.S.A.O. for the A380
EADS TEST & SERVICES E.S.A.O. system has been upgraded for the A380 and incorporates state-of-the-art software tools and technologies such as Intranet, the Oracle database, real time systems and AFDX and CAN busses.
Close co-operation between Airbus engineers, the EADS TEST & SERVICES team and the pool of suppliers, enabled the successful implementation of the E.S.A.O. system on the A380s assembly lines in Toulouse facility.
The E.S.A.O. test system will also be used by Airbus in Hamburg for the A380 cabin furnishing.

A Complete System Covering All Test Phases
The E.S.A.O. test system is based on several sub-systems capable of performing all the ground test requirements during the programming, management/operating and execution phases:

A preparation sub-system makes it possible to programme test procedures.

A management/operating sub-system enables test procedures to be monitored and processing of the results obtained.

Several execution sub-systems assist with test executions on aircraft during the assembly phase.
These different sub-systems are linked to each other with an Ethernet connection and rely on a set of servers, workstations (PCs), a database and off-the-shelf software tools, dedicated to each of the test phases.
Within the execution sub-systems, test resources (Digital Equipment Simulators) interface with the aircraft to emit and receive aircraft signals that are to be tested.

D.E.S. Principles
During the assembly phase, in order to verify transmission channels’ functional integrity, the E.S.A.O. system uses both the aircraft equipment internal 'simulation' functions and modular and configurable test resources named Digital Equipment Simulators, to simulate and acquire real aircraft signals which are verified.
