Eager to discover, create, network and fly, Juniors meet once a year on the island Juist, in the North Sea for a one-week training workshop.
For one week, they work on a team project involving technical knowledge as well as collective and personal soft skills. Teams working as real-life companies who compete for a fictitious contract, Juniors have to take responsibility, test their experience and discover new grounds in terms of personal development. In order to complete the project, teams have to undergo stages like team building, development, production, tests and presentation, thus experiencing concrete managerial and technical issues of project management.
Beside the project, the group is introduced to a current managerial problematique. For instance, issues like knowledge management, cross-cultural issues, teamwork and communication, team identity, integration or moderation techniques are presented by a professional trainer and then openly discussed within the group. As EADS is a company moving with its time, we hold it for something primordial that future graduates and young professionals follow the evolution of strategic and managerial thinking.
The project is not the only component of the workshop. There’s something more behind it! For one week, Juniors also come closer to the basics of our company, flying.
Some are already flying enthusiasts; others enjoy this unique opportunity to discover such a fascinating activity. Lessons on flight theory involve Juniors studying aerospace engineering who introduce basic issues in terms of flying, aerodynamics and meteorology to the rest of the group. Theory is then turned into practice during flying lessons on powered gliders.

Richard:
Flying is fun! However, there is not only practical experience to it! The theoretical background behind is fun and interesting as well. Juniors who are familiar with aviation or even own a pilot license do their best to explain basic issues in terms of aerodynamics, navigation and meteorology. Why does a plane fly? How can I orientate myself in the air? What about the legendary air pockets? These are questions we reply to by taking simple and practical examples. Right from the very first flying lesson, every Junior understands how close theory and practice are linked together…
Another aim of the flying lessons that we offer to the participants belongs to the field education by experience. May it be flying or teamwork, Juniors are confronted with different situations of stress and personal fears. Thus, they have to take responsibility for others and have to cope with totally new experiences.
Evolving in a relaxed but serious atmosphere, we mean to focus this workshop on personal development, communication and networking…
Le Bourget / ILA
International airshows are major HR events for EADS, where recruiters meet interested and motivated candidates. In such a context, Juniors are invited to participate to Europe’s two major airshows, Le Bourget in Paris and ILA in Berlin.
These are also first-rate occasions for Juniors to meet recruiters and stay in contact with EADS, a major actor in recruitment for engineers. In fact, more than 25% of the Juniors make a second or third internship at EADS and a large majority is then directly hired within EADS.

Thomas:
Participating in the EADS Juniors Programme was for me a motivating, exciting and challenging experience. Thus I had the chance to meet students and employees of EADS of different backgrounds and nationalities. Meetings at impressive airshows in Paris and Berlin, numerous participations in the Juist workshops and above all contacts with the other Juniors transmitted to me a strong identification with EADS. It is no surprise that I was happy to get a job at EADS and to start my professional life in this complex High-Tech firm.
My commitment as a Senior: To feel attached to the programme itself and to keep in mind what I learnt there: to find a common agreement taking into account my international environment and to keep the network active !
