The core business of Premium AEROTEC will focus on structures and manufacturing systems for aircraft construction and related development activities. Premium AEROTEC has set itself the goal of becoming the leading tier-1 supplier for commercial and military aircraft structures within the next few years. In its present, starting configuration, the new company already holds a leading position in its sector.
Core Competence of the Augsburg plant
The slogan “Aerostructures made in Augsburg” highlights the key area of expertise of the aerostructures plant in Augsburg, namely the manufacture and assembly of fuselage sections and highly stressed structural components for every type of military or commercial aircraft programme, including outfitting. Alongside hybrid lightweight construction techniques, its portfolio also comprises the full range of modern technologies employed in the production of fibre-reinforced composite components, using prepregs, infiltration techniques and sandwich structures. Another of the products made in Augsburg is the rear pressure bulkhead for the Boeing 787.
VAP®-Technology
A prime example of the products manufactured in the Augsburg plant is the cargo door for the new Airbus A400M military transport plane. This geometrically complex structural component, installed in a highly stressed area of the fuselage, has to withstand high physical loads. Measuring approximately 7×4 metres, it is one of the largest aircraft structures to be fabricated anywhere in the world using the so-called VAP® (Vacuum Assisted Process) technique.
