Getafe is one of the three Airbus sites in Spain, which form the Centre of Excellence Horizontal Tail Plane, using conventional and advanced composites to manufacture this section for all Airbus aircraft. Getafe specialises in the final assembly, systems testing and testing of all horizontal tail planes which are mainly made from carbon fibre reinforced plastic - for the A300/A310 aircraft, the A320 Family and the A330/A340 Family. From Getafe, the horizontal tail planes are sent to Airbus final assembly lines in Toulouse or Hamburg. Getafe share responsibility for the A380 horizontal tail plane with the Puerto real site, also part of this Centre of Excellence. The A380 horizontal tail plane is designed and initially assembled at Getafe before sent to the third site in this Centre of Excellence, Illescas. Getafe is also responsible for the A380's main landing gear doors.

Sales and marketing, maintenance, repair, overhaul, materials development, modifications and upgrades, structures and components assembly, Eurofighter final assembly, system tests, flight testing, in-service product support for aircraft flown by the Spanish Air Force.
The plant carries out final assembly of the 87 Eurofighters for Spain. Series production of these aircraft started in the summer of 2001. The site also produces the starboard wing for all the Eurofighter aircraft ordered. The first production Eurofighter for the Spanish Air Force took to the skies at Getafe in February 2003.
The Getafe plant is also responsible for the maintenance, overhaul and combat efficiency improvement of high-performance military aircraft, including fighter aircraft (AV-8B Harrier, EF-18 Hornet, F-5 Tiger, F-1 Mirage), trainers (Tamiz and C-101 Aviojet), transporters (C-130 Hercules) and maritime patrol aircraft (P-3 Orion).
