Illescas is one of three sites in Spain that form the Centre of Excellence Horizontal Tail Plane, which is responsible for the design and development of tail planes for all Airbus aircraft. Illescas is also home to Airbus advanced composites centre which uses some of the most innovative technologies in the world to manufacture horizontal tail planes and aircraft parts constructed from carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP).
