EADS Test & Services (T&S), an integrated activity of EADS Defence & Security (DS), and Thai Airways International in Bangkok signed a major contract for the supply of an ATEC Series 6 automatic avionics tester and 50 test program sets. It will be used for the avionics maintenance of the airline’s Airbus A330 and Boeing 777 fleets. Thai Airways International, which has been operating ATEC testers since the early seventies, now chooses the world leading ATEC Series 6 tester – also the test system of the A380 – to maintain its increasing fleet.
From October 27th to December 10th 2008, representatives from Thai Airways International will be staying at T&S’ in Toulouse to prepare the acceptance and to attend training courses. Delivery is planned in the first quarter of 2009.
This contract reinforces T&S’ position in Asia: after the ATEC Series 6 delivered to Singapore Airlines in 2007 for the maintenance of the first A380 entering service, this ATEC Series 6 will be the 25th ATEC test station to be used in Asia. Among the other main Asian ATEC operators are All Nippon Airways, Japan Airlines, Korean Air, Air China, China Southern Airlines, Vietnam Airlines. T&S is able to offer local support services to its Asian Customers thanks to a Singapore-based support centre.
