"Operations & Services within the Business Unit EADS Services has been established to answer an emerging new procurement model initiated by defence and governmental customers. As a multinational high-tech group, it is necessary to offer outsourced services that are independent of platforms and products to the customer. EADS is therefore even going the step beyond its own product range by offering overall solutions in the fast-growing services business. Looking at the current market and customer structures, this approach is absolutely crucial. The objective at Operations & Services is to adapt to general developments, but more particularly to play a role in structuring trends at an early stage. Operational Units in France, Germany, Spain and the UK put us in a position to accommodate and process customer service requirements that are tailor-made to the respective countries.
Working closely with national public authorities requires maximum flexibility and responsiveness by the national Operational Units, i.e. not being subject to any avoidable restrictions. Understanding the customer needs and requirements is of paramount importance. EADS Operations & Services actively pursues a service-oriented approach by providing what the customer actually requires and not only what the market currently supplies.
Without pretending to reinvent Public Private Partnership (PPP) or Private Finance Initiative (PFI), we are aware that our market encompassing "Military Outsourced Services" can only undergo further development if in addition we give this market the possibility of growing, enabled by our innovative solutions. EADS is implementing the concept of developing and realizing appropriate models in the areas of Trainings Solutions, Homeland Security, Secure Communication as well as Supply Chain Management and Operational Availability.
In a nutshell, this means integrating our own skills in the areas of Business Modelling, Project and Risk Management, Finance, IT, HR and Contract Design with the expertise of EADS Business Units and other leading companies to combine as one.
