10 AS350 B3 Ecureuils for the Norwegian Helicopter Transportation Group

The Paris Air Show was the backdrop for the contract signed by Helicopter Transportation Group A/S and Eurocopter for the supply of 5 AS350 B3 Ecureuils helicopters plus 5 options.

Marignane, 11 July 2005

HTG specializes in renting out helicopters to operators. This contract will consolidate its position as leader in the aerial work sector in Scandinavia, particularly through its companies Airlift AS in Norway and Osterman Helicopter in Sweden.

Helicopter Transportation Group A/S is one of Eurocopter's privileged partners - 85% of its fleet of about 50 helicopters is from the Eurocopter range, i.e. 10 AS365 NA, N1, and N2 Dauphins, 1 AS332 L1 Super Puma, 20 single and twin engine Ecureuils, and 2 Lamas.

HTG also works in the oil and gas industrial market with DanCopter, which introduced the first 2 EC155 B1 helicopters in North Sea operations for the supply of offshore oil rigs.

To date, 3,670 helicopters from the Ecureuil range have been sold and have logged 15 million flight hours. Since its market debut, the Ecureuil range has been successively upgraded. The top-performing production AS350 B3 Ecureuil is equipped with the very latest systems, such as dual channel FADEC, vehicle data displays and integrated GPS.

About 430 AS350 B3 Ecureuils are currently in operational service worldwide, where they mainly perform missions requiring high performance, including 'high and hot' sling work (capacity of 1,400kg).

On 14 May 2005, a production AS350 B3 Ecureuil with test pilot Didier Delsalle at the controls landed on the top of Mount Everest (Kingdom of Nepal) at 8,850 meters (29,035 ft). This feat, which shattered the existing world record for the highest landing and takeoff, has been submitted for official approval.
