Integrated Training System: The Situation
Air forces are about to introduce new fourth- and fifth-generation combat aircraft. These aircraft and the associated highly effective terminally guided air-to-air and air-to-ground weapon systems entail new operational concepts and tactics.

Existing training systems cannot meet this new challenge. In the course of its work for the Advanced European Jet Pilot Training study, EADS Military Air Systems has proposed the High Energy Advanced Training (HEAT) concept, which is to use a high-performance trainer within the frame of an integrated training system.
